For each social media channel I wrote copy that targeted a different, unique audience. Instagram focuses on our younger demographic of current and prospective students, Facebook keeps parents in the loop with new programs and updates to the college, LinkedIn is for our researchers and professional folks, and X (Twitter) communicates with our 'science twitter' crowd. Below are a few excerpts of copy I have written, highlighting this strategy and how it engages our audiences.
"Whether this has been your first week as a VCU Engineer or just one of many beginnings to a great semester, we are incredibly excited to see our students discovering all that VCU Engineering has to offer."
"Enjoy these photos, a snapshot of the first week back on campus, as our students hit the ground running for the best year of college yet."
"The VCU College of Engineering is launching a new Bachelor or Arts (B.A.) degree in computer science, available to students in the 2024-25 school year. This B.A. intends to provide an interdisciplinary pathway to computer science that promotes collaboration between diverse industries, meeting the growing demand for IT experience."
"Two researchers in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering are changing the future of safety-critical systems."
"Carl Elks, Ph.D. and Ümit Özgür, Ph.D. are utilizing physics-based hardware solutions to challenges where software poses significant security vulnerabilities. These systems will have implementations across industries in high-stake situations, the most prevalent being the nuclear power industry."
"Congratulations to Ph.D. student Muhammad Shaharyar Yaqub (@msyaqub01) for winning the best poster award at the 24th annual Digital Forensic Research Conference (@DFRWS), held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana."
